Alright students! Today I will cover the term 'power-playing', what it looks like, and how we can avoid it! Alright, so the definition of power-playing is whenever a person takes control of another person's character, assuming that what person 1 says the character does is what person 2 would have said. Here's an example:
Miu owns Silverpaw. I own Blackfire.
Blackfire padded over to Silverpaw, who was talking to a beetle. "Oh, hi Blackfire!" Meowed Silverpaw. Blackfire dipped his head, and sat down. Silverpaw began to pounce on his tail like a kit again.
The parts in red are the power-playing parts. Whenever you see a part in your posts marked with red, that means you've power-played, and need to change it. Now, to AVOID power-playing, you can set up your post based on what the person above says in their post. Like this:
Miu says: Silverpaw watched a beetle with interest. She pounced on it, acting like a kit again.
Blackfire says: Blackfire padded over to Silverpaw, laughing as she pounced on the beetle in front of her.
That isn't power-playing, because the owner of Silverpaw has said what she was doing. I was just restating it, using my characters as the observers! So there you have it! I hope this helped!!
