Silentkit veered to the right suddenly, avoiding the Elder's Den. "Is anyone watching?" She hissed in her den mate's ear.

[glow=yellow,2,300]Starkit glanced around. Cats were sharing tongues and eating fresh-kill by the pile, but no cat seemed to be paying attention to the two kits. Starkit looked around, and saw that Skybird was heading back to her den, lost in thought. "The cost is clear. Silentkit, what are you doing?" Starkit asked.[/glow]

Silentkit dived into the bushes behind the Elder's den, and crawled out to the otherside. She scented the air, keeping herself low to the ground.

[glow=yellow,2,300]Starkit followed her denmate, wondering what in the world she could be thinking of. Once they were out of the bushes she stopped. "Silentkit, where are we going?" she meowed, standing still. "I'm not going another pawstep until you tell me!"[/glow]

Silentkit hushed her den mate. She scented the air, then whispered over her shoulder. "Exploring! Do you want to stay in the camp all day? Besides, they won't like me being a Warrior, so I need to get it out while I can!" She ten began forward, heading in a random direction. She veered to the right, her whiskers brushing the barely missed tree.

[glow=yellow,2,300]Starkit felt a rush of excitement. But then doubt washed over her, and she dashed after Silentkit. "Wait! But what will you do if you can't be a warrior?" she asked sadly. [/glow]

Silentkit shrugged, not stopping. "I'll prove to them that I can be better than a Warrior! I'll be the best warrior! Better than Firestar!" She meowed, her blind eyes shining. He claws sheathed and unsheathed into the cool ground, and Silentkit began to trod faster. She wanted to run, but wasn't familiar with the area, so didn't want to risk hitting her nose on a tree!

[glow=yellow,2,300]Starkit sighed softly. "But you know that because you're blind you can't be a real warrior, right? Especially not as good as Firestar!" Starkit didn't want to let her friend down, but she knew that Silentkit had to see the truth that was right under her nose.[/glow]

Silentkit growled. "That's why I'll be greater! One weakness doesn't make a cat! I thought you'd know that!" The small kit's ear lay flat against her skull. Why didn't anyone believe she could be just as normal as the other clan cats?! After all, they are the ones who had taken her in! If they thought she was so useless, then why keep her alive?!

[glow=yellow,2,300]Starkit stepped toward Silentkit. "Why can't you see the truth! It's staring you right in the face! You'll never be a warrior! Stop trying to pretend!" she yowled. She didn't even know why she had tried to make friends with this ambitious cat. "I'm tired of getting in trouble! I'm going back to camp!" She spun around and raced back toward the camp before Silentkit could do anything to stop her.[/glow]

Silentkit held back a low growl. She listened to Starkit's arguement, then flinched when the kit raced back to camp. Silentkit could hear the drumming of her den-mates paws on the hard ground. Silentkit prayed that Starkit would keep her mouth shut, and continued onward. She managed to feel her way around, and was amazed when she came to an area where another scent mingled. This must be a border! She thought in excitement. Soon I'll be an apprentice, and I'll patrol this border!

[glow=yellow,2,300]Starkit raced back into the camp the way that the two kits had left, hoping no one would notice her absense. But as she pelted back toward the nursery, she heard pawsteps, and veered too late. She looked up as Brambleheart, Skybird's brother, approached her.[/glow]--------------------------------------------------------------- [glow=brown,2,300]Brambleheart looked down at Starkit, who was panting. "Where have you been?" he asked. "You look like you've been chased by a fox!" Then his voice turned serious. "You haven't, have you?"[/glow]--------------------------------------------------------------- [glow=yellow,2,300]Starkit gazed up into the brown tabby's green eyes. "N-no, Brambleheart," she murmered. "It's just..." Then the kit poured out everything that Silentkit had said, and seeing the tom's eyes darken in anger, she felt a twinge of satisfaction.[/glow]--------------------------------------------------------------- [glow=brown,2,300]Brambleheart grimaced, and his pelt burned with anger at the blind kit. What could she be thinking? "We'll have to go after her." he decided. "I'll get someone else to come with us, then we'll go out and find her before she gets herself into trouble. When Starkit nodded, Brambleheart dashed over to the warriors' den. Inside, he saw the Clan deputy, Ashdust, lying in his nest grooming himself. "Ashdust! I need your help!" Brambleheart meowed. Then he told the deputy everything that Starkit had told him.[/glow]--------------------------------------------------------------- [glow=yellow,2,300]Starkit kneaded her paws on the ground as she waited for Brambleheart to return. She glanced up at the sky, praying to StarClan that they wouldn't be too late to save Silentkit from whatever she was planning.[/glow]

Silentkit sat down, waiting for the other Clan's patrol. If DarkClan wouldn't accept her the way she was, then surely another Clan would? She looked in the direction of up, scenting the air. A storm was coming, and it sent shivers down the small kit's spine.

"What?" Ashdust growled. The warrior had disturbed his sleep. He wasn't very happy about that, "What do you want?" When he smelled the fear-scent wafting from him, he knew something was terribly wrong. He sat up straight, trying to look like he knew what he was doing. He was bone scared. Brambleheart never get scared? What could be so wrong?
